Profile

Colonel Phil M. Haun, USAF, is a Military Professor of Strategy & Policy and the Senior Air Force Advisor to the President, U.S. Naval War College.  He received his PhD (2010) in International Relations from MIT with a dissertation entitled On Death Ground:  Why Weak States Resist Great Powers, Explaining Coercion Failure in Asymmetric Interstate Conflict.   He is a 1986 graduate of Harvard University (A.B. in Engineering Science). He also studied at Vanderbilt University (M.A. in Economics) and served as a National Security Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government.  He is a graduate of the USAF School of Advanced Air and Space Power Studies and the USAF Weapons Instructor Course. He taught at the USAF Academy and is the co-editor of A-10’s over Kosovo.

Col Haun is an A-10 “Warthog” pilot with combat experience in Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Afghanistan and commanded the 355th Fighter Squadron, Eielson AFB, Alaska.
