Profile

Lieutenant Commander J Cramer is a Military Professor in the War Gaming Department, Naval War College. He has also served as the CNWS Operations Officer while at the Naval War College. Prior to Lieutenant Commander Cramer’s arrival he earned his Master’s Degree in Military Operational Art and Science at the Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, AL.

His education also includes a Master of Business Administration from Liberty University, and a B.S. in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Sociology from the University of the State of New York, Albany.

Lieutenant Commander Cramer’s areas of interest and specialty are Leadership and Management, Citizenship and Public Policy, and International Business with emphasis in the Asia Pacific and Arabian Gulf regions. He has been personally selected as an instructor three times at the Presidential Classroom and also distinguished himself as Naval Aviation Schools Command and Chief, Naval Air Training’s Instructor of the Year.

Earning his Naval Flight Officer wings in May 1998, Lieutenant Commander Cramer then reported to the world famous EP-3E “World Watchers” Squadron. His other tours included Catapult and Arresting Gear Officer aboard the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), San Diego, CA;  Battalion Officer in Charge and Naval Science Instructor, Officer Candidate School, Pensacola, Florida; Naval Flight Officer-Mission Commander/Electronic Warfare Officer, Fleet Air Reconnaissance Squadron One (World Watchers), Whidbey Island, WA; USS Constellation (CV 64); Navy Recruiting District Seattle, WA; USS Nimitz (CVN 68), Bremerton, WA ; Navy Nuclear Power School, Orlando, FL.

Lieutenant Commander Cramer, a native of Helena, MT, enlisted in the Navy in November 1985. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Medal (heroism), Air Medal (Strike/Flight), Joint Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Good Conduct (two awards), Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal and numerous other personal and unit awards.
