Jeffrey Landsman is currently an Associate Professor at the War Gaming Department of the United States Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He joined the faculty in 2008 while at the same time serving in the U.S. Navy Reserves, where he attained the rank of Captain. He was also chosen to deploy to Ethiopia for 18 months to serve as the military and maritime advisor to the U.S Ambassador to the African Union, and as the liaison officer to Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA)
Professor Landsman has served as a war game director, developer, designer and analyst for a variety of naval, joint and multi-national games. His specific interests are in the areas of command and control; theater security cooperation; and furthering the understanding, employment, and integration of maritime capabilities and capacities. Additionally, he leads the AFRICOM and African Security seminar at the Naval War College’s Senior Enlisted Academy.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Miami University (Ohio), a Master of Business Administration degree from Providence College and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
