Kevin D. McCranie

Kevin D. McCranie is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Policy at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island. He specializes in naval history and strategy with a particular emphasis on the period from the American Revolution through the Napoleonic Wars (1775-1815). Additionally, he serves as co-coordinator of the Naval War College’s internship program.
He is the author of Admiral Lord Keith and the Naval War against Napoleon (University Press of Florida, 2006) as well as a forthcoming volume with the Naval Institute Press on the War of 1812. He has also written on British naval recruitment during the Napoleonic Wars as well as the British navy's role in joint and multi-national operations during the Age of Sail.
He received his Ph.D. in History from Florida State University.
