Col Michael McGauvran (USAF-ret.) is a Professor of Joint Military Operations at the Naval War College, Newport, RI. The former Chief of Plans at U.S. Strategic Command, he is a command pilot with extensive experience in the T-38 as a flight training instructor and in the B-1 as an instructor, evaluator, Operations Officer, Squadron, and Deputy Group Commander. Operationally, Colonel McGauvran was the Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron Commander for Operation DESERT FOX and flew combat sorties in support of Operation ALLIED FORCE.  His degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree from Stony Brook University; a Master of Arts in Political Science from Midwestern State University; a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from Naval Command and Staff College; a Master of Science in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University; and Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
