Biography

Captain Smith began his naval career at Naval Legal Service Office, Yokosuka, Japan where he served as Defense Counsel, Trial Counsel, and Legal Assistance Attorney until he reported to Naval Support Activity, Naples, Italy to serve as the Staff Judge Advocate. Additionally, Captain Smith served as Senior Trial Counsel for Trial Service Southeast, an instructor and Executive Officer at the Naval Justice School, and Commanding Officer, Region Legal Service Office, Naval District Washington. Captain Smith served in various international and operational law billets including: Carrier Group EIGHT, U.S. Pacific Fleet, JTF-519, U.S. Pacific Command, and Multi- National Force/U.S. Forces Iraq.
