Biography

Commander Michael J. Riordan is a Miliary Professor of strategy, policy, and ethics. A Surface Warfare, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), and Joint Officer, he has served tours in USS DETROIT (AOE 4), multiple EOD units, the Pentagon, Intelligence Community, IED Defeat Task Force, and CNO Strategic Studies Group. He previously served as senior Congressional advisor to Admiral James G. Stavridis, Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, following a Defense Legislative Fellowship in the office of Senator Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA), Chairman of the U.S. Senate's Sea Power Subcommittee. He is a recipient of the VADM Thomas R. Weschler Award for Inspirational Teaching at the Naval War College.
