Biography

Professor Randy Hess has taught Joint Maritime Operations for the NWC College of Distance Education Monterey Program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. since 2001. He retired from the Navy in 2001, after serving more than 28 years as aviator, attaining the rank of captain. He has had extensive operational experience including three Carrier Squadron deployments, two overseas tours (logistics in the Philippines and NATO staff in Belgium) and two command tours: Commanding Officer, Training Squadron Three and later, Naval Academy Prep School. His final assignment was to the Naval Postgraduate School as the Dean of Students and Director of Programs.
