Biography

Lt. Col. Steve “Björn” Engberg joined the national security affairs department in July 2019. A 1999 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he also has Masters' Degrees from American Military University, Air Command and Staff College (distinguished graduate) and the College of Naval Warfare. His most recent assignment was as the 8th Operations Group deputy commander at Kunsan Air Base. He also previously commanded the 4th Fighter Squadron at Hill Air Force Base. A command pilot with 2,000 flying hours, he has had numerous flying assignments and deployments supporting operations across the Middle East, Europe, Africa and the Pacific, as well as on staff at the U.S. Embassy, South Korea.
