Professor Kornatz was commissioned upon graduation from the USNA in May 1980 where he earned a BS in Mathematics. After flight training he was assigned to squadrons on both coasts making deployments to the WESTPAC, Indian Ocean, and Arabian Gulf. Additionally, he conducted operational flight testing of Navy aircraft, did staff tours in the White House and Pacific Fleet, commanded VC-8 (flew the A-4 and H-3), completed two tours in Iraq (2004 - CPA and 2008-9 Al Asad Air Base), earned an MS in Systems Management from University of Southern California, earned an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from NWC, and was NWC graduate, faculty member, and department chairman.
