Cmdr. Steven White, U.K. Royal Navy, graduated from the U.S. Naval War College Senior Leaders' Course in June 2022 with an M.A. in national security and strategic studies. He joined the Joint Military Operations Department and is currently undertaking a graduate certificate in ethics and emerging military technology. He joined the senior service in 2001 as a warfare officer, graduating from Britannia Royal Naval College and joining the fleet in 2002. He specialized as a mine warfare and clearance diving officer, then as a principal warfare officer, and went on to sea command positions, most recently establishing a new Royal Navy squadron to operate maritime autonomous MCM systems.

Professional Highlights


Commanding Officer

Completing highly successful UK and deployed operations and having the crew recognized with the award of the Surface Flotilla Efficiency Pennant for Mine Counter Measures.

Principal Warfare Officer

Conducting the inaugural 7-month deployment in the Type 45 Destroyer HMS DAUNTLESS, visiting 18 ports in 16 countries across 4 continents.

Bridge Watchkeeping Officer

Leading teams ashore to assist the inhabitants of Grenada and then Grand Cayman in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.
