About the Workshop
The 2019 Professional Military Education (PME) and the Cyber Domain Workshop is a one-and-a-half day event on January 17-18 at the U.S. Naval War College, hosted by the Cyber and Innovation Policy Institute.
The workshop is in response to the National Defense Strategy’s call for the reinvigoration of PME and reflects the renewed emphasis on education highlighted in the National Cyber Strategy. The workshop is intended to further PME institutions’ cyber research and educational efforts by fostering a proactive, engaged, innovative, and collaborative community. Crucially, the workshop will provide a venue for direct engagement with the services’ cyber commands and will help the PME community meet ever-increasing demands for a cyber-capable force. Participants will include educators and researchers from the PME community and representatives from the services’ cyber commands and U.S. Cyber Command (CYBERCOM).
Goals of the Workshop
The expressed goals of the workshop are to raise awareness of services cyber commands’ and CYBERCOM’s educational and research needs from PME institutions, to create a common understanding of efforts and programs across the PME community, to facilitate collaboration and partnerships between PME institutions, and to serve as a venue for sharing knowledge and disseminating best practices through direct peer interaction.
