LCDR Crook graduated from Brigham Young University in 2001 with a B.S. in Computer Engineering. Following nuclear power training, he reported to USS Maryland (SSBN 728)(BLUE) where he served in several division officer assignments, and completed five strategic deterrent patrols (2003-2006). He served on the USS Toledo (SSN 769) as Navigator/ Operations Officer (2009-2011), and conducted one CENTCOM deployment.
Ashore, Crook as been assigned to the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, (2006-2008). After earning a M.S. in Space Systems Operations, he stayed on at NPS for 9 months as Program Manager for the NPS CubeSat launcher program (NPSCuL)(a device for launching miniature satellites into orbit, originally proposed in his master’s thesis). NPSCuL was selected for space flight and launched on 13 Sep 2012 out of Vandenberg AFB on NROL-36. He has been a War Game Director at the US Naval War College, War Gaming Department since 2011.
LCDR Crook’s personal awards include the Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards).
