Evolution of War Gaming
LUCE HALL, ca. 1894
The 1984 session of the Naval War College was the first to use war gaming as a means of linking broad principles to specific strategies, issues, and scenarios. It was also the first year in which war gaming became an integral part of the College’s instruction. This view by the illustrator Rufus Zogbaum (1849-1925) was published in Harpers Weekly. Two Chinese naval observers are shown in the center background.
