The guided-missile destroyer Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Zumwalt (DDG 1000) departs from Naval Station Newport, Rhode Island following its maiden voyage from Bath Iron Works Shipyard in Bath, Maine. The port visit marked Zumwalt’s first stop before the ship ultimately sails to her new homeport of San Diego. During the transit, the ship is scheduled to take part in training operations, a commissioning ceremony in Baltimore and various additional port visits. Zumwalt is named for former Chief of Operations Elmo R. Zumwalt and is the first in a three-ship class of the Navy’s newest, most technologically advanced multi-mission guided-missile destroyers. College of Distance Education

U.S. Naval War College (NWC) extends its rigorous, executive-level programs beyond campus through its College of Distance Education (CDE). An alternative to the resident programs in Newport, CDE programs are delivered online or through faculty-led seminars on location. Now, from anywhere in the world, you can pursue a NWC diploma, Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I credits, or a master’s degree. Additionally CDE offers Introductory, Basic, and Primary Professional Military Education (PME) via My Navy Portal.
