The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Learning Commons is a hub for information and research resources, as well a center for writing and teaching assistance. The Learning Commons includes the Henry E. Eccles library, the Information Resources helpdesk, the Writing and Teaching Excellence Center, and an upstairs café and refreshment area.

Featured Faculty
Mark E. de Jong
Mark de Jong joined the U.S. Naval War College in 2025 as director of the Henry E. Eccles Library and as an associate professor. He most recently worked at the U.S. Naval Academy's Nimitz Library in Annapolis, MD and at the National Library of Medicine in Bethesda, MD. He earned a doctorate in management with a focus in higher education leadership and a master's in history in addition to his library degree. Mark taught in multiple University System of Maryland institutions as an adjunct for twenty-two years, first in history and then in management/leadership.
Amanda M. Rosen
Dr. Rosen conducts faculty development, research, curricular development, and assessment on educational gaming and instructional strategies in the security studies and professional military education contexts. In addition to publishing scholarly books and journal articles on these topics, she is a contributing editor to the MCU Press journal "International Perspectives on Military Education (IPME)", and is the co-founder of the award-winning "Active Learning in Political Science" blog.
