Writing Center

From creating a plan to polishing a final draft, the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Writing Center supports the ongoing development of those professional writing skills our graduates need to serve successfully in higher levels of command and staff and in other advanced leadership roles. The Writing Center also advises the college and NWC faculty on all matters related to the teaching of writing.

Students and faculty can schedule a writing consultation with the Writing Center at https://usnwc.mywconline.com. Writers’ Lounge (a drop-in service) is held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 1100-1300 when classes are in session.

We support NWC students in all aspects of academic and professional writing development. Regardless of writing ability or experience, our one-on-one tutorials, group workshops, and Writers’ Lounge walk-in service provide professional support for all types of writing assigned in and across the college's academic curriculum.

Our Goal

Through rigorous, structured, and regular conversations with NWC students about their written work, the Writing Center seeks to supplement and amplify students’ in-class learning, engage with students as they are actively engaged in the writing process, and tailor writing instruction to each student’s individual needs.
