Bookshelves within the Learning Commons

Collections

The collections of the Learning Commons include books, research databases, eBooks, journals, course reading lists, as well as a classified library and classrooms.

Books

Use the Summon Power Search, Library Catalogue (Classic Search), or Worldcat, to search the library’s book collection.

Classified Classrooms

Students and faculty have a wide range of materials and electronic resources available in the Classified Library—the Classified Collection, SIPRNET, and the Classified Classrooms.

Classified Library

This library offers students and faculty access to a wide range of classified and restricted resources that include lecture outlines, research papers, publications, and more.

Course Reserves

The Course Reserves collection contains the electronic and print materials that are put on reserve for various course required reading lists.

Databases

Individual databases may contain additional research material that is not found in the search results of Summon Power Search, Classic Search, or WorldCat.

eBooks

The NWC library subscribes to four eBook databases that allow the user to search titles and content—eBrary, EBSCOhost, OECD and ACLS Humanities.

e-Reserves

The Library e-Reserves system includes over 2,000 course readings, all taking advantage of copyright Fair Use provisions, as well as course readings linked directly from Blackboard learning modules.

Journals

The NWC library contains a comprehensive list of periodicals. Use this site to find out if the library has a specific publication in paper, microfilm, or electronic format.

Perry Collection

Bequeathed to the college in 1970, the 7,000-book collection of Cmdr. Marsden J. Perry includes close to 1,000 unique titles.
