Electives & Areas of Study

Our electives program at U.S. Naval War College (NWC) provides the opportunity for students to explore subjects not in the core curriculum, enhance your regional expertise, or examine core subjects in greater detail. International officers may take an unclassified elective on an ungraded basis and are encouraged to do so each trimester.

About Electives

The Electives Program provides the opportunity to develop and pursue a variety of graduate-level intellectual challenges. Each academic year the Electives Program offers approximately 120 courses designed and taught by NWC professors and adjunct professors. An extensive Electives Program expands the colleges educational offerings by providing opportunities to explore subjects not included in the core curriculum or investigate in greater detail specific elements of that curriculum.

For more information please contact the Electives Program at (401) 856-5480 or electives@usnwc.edu.
