Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Emerging Military Technology

The Graduate Certificate in Ethics and Emerging Military Technology (EEMT) is a specialized elective track for students seeking to deepen their expertise in the ethical complexities imposed by new technology. Students are given priority enrollment for EEMT-related electives and will develop and produce a well-researched, faculty-mentored professional paper on the nexus between ethics and emerging technology.
Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Solmayra Price, a coxswain, assigned to Coastal Riverine Squadron (CRS) 3, operates a Mark VI patrol boat as it transits outbound of San Diego Bay during a unit level training assessment and certification (ULTRA-C) conducted by Coastal Riverine Group (CRG) 1 Training and Evaluation Unit.

General Information

Eligibility

This graduate certificate program is available for resident students, civilian federal employees (GS13, or equivalent), and international students who have been selected for the International Master of Arts Program.

Location & Duration

This 10-month specialized elective track is completed in conjunction with the Naval Staff College curriculum. Students are taught at U.S. Naval War College (NWC) in Newport, Rhode Island.

Learning Format

Courses are conducted in seminar format. Students also complete a faculty-mentored professional paper during the academic year.

Outcome

Students in this specialized program are awarded a certificate, along with four additional graduate credits. In addition, students will develop and produce a well-researched, faculty-mentored professional paper on an original topic of their choice concerning the nexus between ethics and emerging technology.
