Housing
The Newport area offers multiple housing options; students should consider their needs, budget, and option availability.
More than 600 U.S and international students participate annually in resident Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) programs at U.S. Naval War College (NWC), and hundreds more learn at sea or on location through distance learning. We’re committed to ensuring our students succeed in their studies no matter where they are.
Resident JPME students spend about 10 months on our 27-acre campus in Newport, Rhode Island, adjacent to bustling Naval Station Newport. Our campus is home to classrooms, fitness facilities, a library, and other amenities.
Officers in our international resident program will call Newport, Rhode Island, home during their stay. Students will patriciate in academic and cultural opportunities that will enrich experiences at NWC and the United States.
We offer several short-term professional development programs at our Newport campus and abroad. Geared toward intermediate and senior officers, our courses support combat readiness at the operational level of war.
This program gives students the opportunity to complete JPME Phase I wherever they are, it is designed to fit the geographic and time constraints of students that are unable to participate in our traditional residential program.
