Biography

Lt. Col. Matthew Krempel is a military professor in the Joint Military Operations Department. He was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps in 2008 after graduating from Marquette University. Lt. Col. Krempel is a Infantry officer and has served in a variety of Operations and billets to include: Operations Officer, Future Operations Officer, Aide De Camp, Anti-Terrorism Detachment Commanding Officer, and Recruiting Station Commanding Officer. Most recently, he served as the POM Development Officer for the Marine Corps at the Pentagon. Lt. Col. Krempel has an MBA from Naval Post Graduate School and recently graduated the MIT Seminar XXI National Security professionals course.

Program Development Officer

Acted as the Marine Corps POM development Officer responsible for developing, directing, and supporting the process for Marine Corps planning, programming, budgeting, execution, and assessment. P&R develops, advocates for, and defends the Marine Corps future years’ defense program.

Recruiting Station Commanding Officer

Responsible for distributed recruiting efforts across more than 750K square miles in Oregon, southern Washington, and Alaska with an 80 member professional recruiting team and 31 dispersed facilities. Lead the recruiting effort of more than 2K entry-level applicants achieving 100% of assigned quotas, monthly and annually, ensuring diversity by gender, race, and education.

Commanding Officer of Fleet Anit-Terrorism Security Team (FAST) Detachment

Responsible for all ship, aircraft, and embassy security reinforcement and counter Terrorism operations within Europe and Africa.

Future Operations Planner, 4th Marine Regiment

Plan, organize, and develop over 32 international training exercises a year with various foreign militaries in the Pacific. Analyze and approve exercise budgets totaling 1.9M-5M, establish contracting parameters, interact and negotiate with budgeting officials for funding approval.
2013

Aide De Camp Deputy Commander Security Force Assistance in Afghanistan

Personal assistant to a Brigadier General in charge of advising the Afghan Military and all international advising teams throughout southern Afghanistan.
2012

Battalion Operations Officer

Planned and coordinated exercise operations for 900 man team ensuring they were prepared for upcoming deployments. Procured the necessary training required to redeploy 200 Marines to Liberia and 450 Marines back to Afghanistan to support combat operations.
