Biography
Rear Admiral (Ret.) Pete Gumataotao, U.S. Navy, is the director of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies (DKI APCSS) in Honolulu, HI. A native of Guam, he graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981 and the U.S. Naval War College in 1994. His 37 years of active service included serving on multiple destroyers, commanding U.S. Naval Forces in Korea and the Atlantic, and acting as deputy chief of staff, Strategic Plans and Policy, Supreme Allied Command Transformation. In 2018, Gumataotao joined the DKI APCSS, a Department of Defense institution and one of five regional security studies centers that addresses regional and global security issues.
