Biography

William Darney retired at the rank of commander from the U.S. Navy. As a former supply corps officer, he served on USS Skipjack (SSN-585), USS Tarawa (LHA-1) and USS Lake Erie (CG-70). Ashore, he served at the U.S. Submarine School, Groton, Connecticut; Navy Supply Information Systems Activity, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; Defense Supply Center Richmond, Richmond, Virginia; military advisor in the Afghanistan/Pakistan Hand Program at U.S. Central Command, Tampa Bay, Florida. He also served as logistics and joint operational planning and execution systems planner at U.S. Central Command. His last assignment was as the executive officer, Center for Service Support, Newport, Rhode Island.

2014

Logistics and JOPES Planner, USCENTCOM, MAcdill AFB, Tampa FL

As CENTCOM's Strategic Movement Center's Lead Planner, ensured the synchronization and smooth movement of 497 million pounds of cargo and 139,900 passengers in support of all operations and plans within the CENTCOM AOR guaranteeing, effective and efficient force rotations.
2010

Afghanistan/Pakistan Hand Program Military Advisor, USCENTCOM Macdill AFB, Tampa FL.

Completed two tours in Afghanistan as a Logistics Advisor. First tour he was an advisor to Afghan Army Brigadier General, Director of the Afghan National Army’s Acquisition Agency. Second tour he was an advisor to an Afghan Police General of the Afghan National Police’s Logistics Directorate.
1999

Supply Officer USS LAKE ERIE (CG-70)

Was assigned as Supply Officer on USS LAKE ERIE CG-70 where he captured two Blue E’s and Best of Class Ship’s Sales and Service Excellence Award. He made one six month deployment to the Arabian Gulf.
1994

Stock Control Officer, USS TARAWA (LHA-1)

Assigned as Stock Control Officer onboard USS TARAWA LHA-1. Managed a $3.4 million dollar budget and a 53,000 line item inventory worth $49.8 million dollars. He made one six month deployment to the Arabian Gulf in support of Desert Shield.
1990

Supply Officer, USS SKIPJACK (SSN-585)

During this tour, he was assigned as Supply Officer on the fast attack submarine, USS SKIPJACK SSN-585. The USS SKIPJACK (SSN-585) made a six month Mediterranean Deployment and a UNITAS deployment to the Caribbean. Onboard he served as the boat’s Diving Officer and decommissioned her in 1990.
