ALERT | Library Services Update—COVID-19 Closure

The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Library and Learning Commons is closed with virtual services available at libref@usnwc.edu and https://usnwc.edu/Learning-commons.

In line with the College’s updated response to the COVID-19 crisis which calls for mission-essential workforce starting April 1st, Library facilities will be closed.

We continue to provide many of our services virtually.

Requests for Research Support and Other Library-related Inquiries

We continue to provide virtual services, including research consultation and support. Research and instruction librarians can be reached by email, which will be staffed M-F from 0800-1630.

Checking out Library Materials

Checking-out physical materials from the NWC Library has been suspended until further notice. We will reassess all Library services on an ongoing basis and post updates as required. If you hold any borrowed materials in your possession, including interlibrary loan books, keep them in your possession until the library reopens. Overdue notices have been suspended. If you receive any, please disregard.

Interlibrary Loans

We are unable to fill interlibrary loan requests for books at this time. While you may submit book requests, they will be held for future processing.

We may be able to process some journal article requests while others will be held for future processing.

Faculty E-Reserve Processing

We cannot process e-Reserve requests submitted by faculty at this time. While you may submit e-Reserve requests via Blackboard, they will be held in a queue for later processing when the Library reopens.

Conducting Virtual Research at NWC

The library may be closed, but there is a wealth of virtual resources that you can use for writing papers at NWC. More information on these resources can be found here.
