Protection of Civilians and Human Security
Join us for a discussion with Sarah Petrin, former civilian advisor to the NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and U.S. Army Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute on the development of military concepts and operational guidance on the Protection of Civilians and Human Security. The concept of protecting civilians is shifting as governments and militaries update their national policies and operational guidance on "how to" protect civilians from deliberate harm by armed actors and other threats to their security. Ms. Petrin will cover the newly released NATO Handbook on the Protection of Civilians developed by SHAPE/ACO and a forthcoming white paper on Human Security in U.S. Military Operations.
