A native of Washington D.C., Dr. Joseph J. McCarthy retired as Senior Associate Dean and Director of Degree Programs at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He taught at Boston College and Harvard College and served as Assistant Dean in Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences. McCarthy has degrees from Boston College and Harvard University and was at teaching and administrative posts in schools in both the U.S. and in Europe. He has served on the boards of many educational and non-profit organizations including Stonehill College, Hibernia College in Dublin, the U.S. Naval War College, and the Washington Jesuit Academy. He currently serves on the Board of the Harvard Club of Washington.
