Biography

Associate professor Stephen L. Forand joined the Naval War College (NWC) faculty in October 2007 following retirement from the U.S. Marine Corps. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts and a Master of Arts in National Security Strategic Studies from NWC. A naval aviator with over 30-years of operational experience, he served in all active Marine aircraft wings. His career encompassed a variety of assignments including U.S. Central Command, an exchange pilot with the U.S. Navy at Helicopter Mine Countermeasures Squadron 14, the NWC Strategy and Policy Department, and command of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 363 and Marine Corps Air Station New River.
