The Strategy & War (S&W) course at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) begins on November 8th, 2021 and concludes on February 24th, 2022. Please follow health and safety guidelines and refer to the orientation material for more guidance.

The Strategy & Policy department at NWC teaches the S&W course to intermediate-ranking U.S. and international military officers (O3-O4), along with nominated civilian applicants (GS13-GS14, or equivalent).

This course examines how the overall strategic environment shapes operational choices and outcomes; familiarizing students with the fundamentals of foreign policy and military strategy. In addition, the course assists students in developing a coherent framework for analysis of decisions involving the use of force to achieve national objectives.
