On June 6th, please join the President of the U.S. Naval War College, the faculty and staff of the Naval Historical Collection, the Naval War College Museum, and the Hattendorf Historical Center as we mark the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Midway, one of the Navy's most historically significant victories. We will celebrate the achievements of the sailors who helped blunt the Japanese advance and turned the tide of the war in the Pacific.
To help commemorate the occasion, we will have an honored guest, Mrs. Anne Cuvelier, in attendance. Her father, Captain Donald Ramsey, served as the commanding officer of the USS Hughes, a destroyer that escorted the USS Yorktown during the battle. Mrs. Cuvelier has graciously donated her father’s Captain’s Night Order Book to the Naval Historical Collection, which has, in conjunction with the Museum, transcribed the book’s entries. The book will be on display. Please join us as we honor the occasion and thank Mrs. Cuvelier for her donation.
The digital exhibit is located here: USS Hughes at Midway.
