Understanding Maritime Security
In this seminar, Christian Bueger introduces the core ideas and insights from his most recent book Understanding Maritime Security coauthored with Tim Edmunds (Oxford University Press, 2024). The book provides a comprehensive outlook of how maritime security matters and how it has evolved over time. The main aim is to connect the dots and offer strategies of how to deal with the complexity of maritime security, and its toolbox of solutions. Ranging from state conflict, greyzone warfare, terrorism to blue crime, the book discusses the importance of different actors, and provides an outlook into the future of the security agenda at sea, discussing cyber security, climate change and critical infrastructures.
