A Regional Security Threat Assessment of Global Climate Change
Stephanie Epner and Melissa Toufanian, from the UN Foundation's Climate in Foreign Policy Project, and Kate Guy, from the Center for Climate and Security (CCS), will give an overview of increasing risks posed by climate change to U.S. interests and international security. How might environmental and climate risks intersect with challenges in international relations, from spiraling regional tensions to great power conflict? How can these risks be better understood alongside traditional foreign policy priorities? They will give a regional breakdown and ranking of key threats, based on CCS's recently released Security Threat Assessment of Global Climate Change, as well as an overview of how best to communicate these threats alongside other security issues.
