The U.S. Naval War College (NWC), Naval Command and Staff (NC&S) online program delivers the NWC Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I to students who cannot attend the NWC in-residence. Offered four times per year, this session begins on October 1st, 2021 and concludes on September 8th, 2022. These courses are taken virtually and consist of online discussion boards, group projects, individual essays, and other assignments.
Organized into five educational blocks, the program commits students to completing all blocks during one session, not as a self-paced program. Students must progress through the material in accordance with the schedule.
JPME encourages critical thinking in multiple security environments and levels of war. Students study the relationship between security policy and military strategy, as well as plan and conduct military operations.
