Readout of U.S. Naval War College President Rear Adm. Darryl Walker Meeting With Rear Adm. Gregory C. Rothrock, Superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy

U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Darryl Walker met with Rear Adm. Gregory C. Rothrock, Superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, at the war college’s Newport, Rhode Island, campus on Aug. 22.
Rothrock took over as superintendent of the New London, Connecticut,-based academy just more than a month earlier, on July 16, 2025.
Walker welcomed Rothrock and the leaders discussed continuing education opportunities for Coast Guard personnel available at the NWC, which welcomes students from across the armed forces and U.S. government agencies. The men also discussed the importance of collaboration between the Navy and Coast Guard in maritime operations, and the value of including training and education covering that collaboration at the two schools.
Rear Adm. Rothrock previously served as the J7 Director of Force Development at U.S. Cyber Command, as well as Chief of the Coast Guard’s Office of Budget and Programs.
