Readout of U.S. Naval War College President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin Meeting with Capt. Makoto Hanzaki from the Institute for Future Warfare Studies, Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Command and Staff College

U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin met with Capt. Makoto Hanzaki from the Institute for Future Warfare Studies (IFWS), Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force Command and Staff College (MCSC), during a visit to the college’s Newport, RI campus, Oct. 23.

The two talked about the strong relationship between NWC and MCSC and discussed opportunities for future collaboration between the two professional military education institutions.

Garvin also asked Hanzaki to convey his gratitude to Vice Adm. Hiroshi Egawa, president of MCSC, for supporting the bond between the two colleges, including the cooperation required to host a trilateral IFWS conference between Japan, the UK and U.S.
