Naval War College Review

The Naval War College Review is a scholarly journal, published quarterly under the auspices of the Naval War College and the Department of the Navy, but exercising editorial independence; the thoughts and opinions expressed in the publication are those of the authors and not necessarily those of the department or NWC. The Review has been published continuously since 1948. It serves as a forum for discussion of public policy matters of interest to the maritime services. The candid views of the authors are presented for the professional education of the readers. Articles are drawn from a wide variety of sources to inform, stimulate, and challenge readers, and to serve as a catalyst for new ideas.

Circulation includes commands and activities of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard; officers of those services; foreign officers and civilians; other U.S. government officials and agencies; and selected U.S. and international libraries, research centers, publications, and educational institutions.

Naval War College Book Review

Book Reviews are a popular feature of the Review, and we try to include as many per issue as page count allows. Reviews are written on both solicited and unsolicited books, and we determine which books to assign on the basis of subject matter, timeliness, general interest and popularity, and specific requests. When a book is assigned, we provide a copy to the reviewer.

If you are interested in becoming a reviewer submit a sample review. Select a book to which you have access (we do not provide books for sample/initial reviews) and contact the book review editors to verify your book choice. Please read below: Writing for NWC Book Review.
