Biography

Prof. David Brown is the executive director of the Advanced Naval Strategist Program (ASP), and co-director of the Center on Irregular Warfare & Armed Groups (CIWAG). A former military strategist, Col. Brown served 30 years in combat units and has a background in nuclear weapons, combat experience in DESERT STORM and IRAQI FREEDOM, and operational planning experience at Battalion, Brigade, Division and Theater levels, with operations in Bosnia, Kosovo, and in Iraq as senior military advisor for an Iraqi Division in Mosul. Prof. Brown taught for seven years in the college’s Strategy and Policy department and has taught in the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS) for joint war planners.
