Biography

Gene R. Andersen is responsible for operationalizing the personal development element of the Navy leader development continuum with a focus on self-awareness, coaching and mentoring. He is the area of study coordinator for all college elective courses in leadership and ethics and member of the Navy senior leader development concentration faculty. He teaches electives in self-awareness for leaders, strategic leadership and directed research in leadership. A retired Navy helicopter pilot, he taught at the U.S. Naval Academy, edited two leadership texts and is published in the U.S. Naval Institute’s Proceedings magazine and the Naval War College Review. He joined the Naval War College in 2005.
