Biography

Col. Nischwitz joined the U.S. Naval War College in 2020 as a member of the Strategy and Policy Department. He commanded at the battalion level and served in various staff positions. His past assignments included the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve, U.S. Army Transportation School, 17th Field Artillery Brigade and U.S. Military Academy. He received his B.S. from Indiana University and M.A. from Columbia University and the U.S. Naval War College.

Battalion Commander, 426th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade (Bastogne), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault)

Commanded the brigade support battalion and served as the senior logistician for the brigade combat team. The brigade support battalion consisted of a headquarters, distribution company, field maintenance company, a medical company, and six forward support companies.

Director, Internal Review and External Oversight for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve

Informed CJTF-OIR Chief of Staff and Commanding General on all ongoing oversight activities including U.S. Congress, Government Accountability Office (GAO), Lead Inspector General-General Overseas Contingency Operations, Department of Defense (DoD), and Department of State (DoS).
2015

Executive Officer, Chief of Transportation and Commandant of U.S. Army Transportation School

Served as executive officer to the Chief of Transportation/Commandant of the Transportation School. Strategic planner and primary point of contact for coordinating Command Group actions with HQDA, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), and Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM).
