Biography

Phil Haun joined the Naval War College faculty in 2016. He received his A.B. from Harvard and Ph.D. in political science from MIT. He previously served as a USAF Colonel and A-10 pilot. His research is on coercion, deterrence, and air power theory. His publications include several books: A-10s Over Kosovo, Coercion, Survival & War, Lectures of the Air Corps Tactical School and American Strategic Bombing in World War II, Air Power in the Age of Primacy, and Tactical Air Power and the Vietnam War. His latest research is for an upcoming book, Intending to Fail: How and Why States Coerce Insincerely.
