Biography

Cmdr. Riewerts joined the U.S. Naval War College in 2021 as a member of the Joint Military Operations Department and fills the role as a submarine warfare specialist. He has served in the submarine force for the past 26 years. His previous assignments include 10 years as an enlisted nuclear Machinist Mate and tours on five submarines in the U.S. Navy. He has a bachelor’s degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in nuclear engineering and a master’s degree from the U.S. Naval War College.

Responsible for preparing future military and civilian leaders for high-level policy, command, and staff positions through a focus on joint warfighting and theater-strategic and operational levels of war.
2019

Executive Officer, PCU IOWA (SSN-797)

Responsible to the Commanding Officer for supervision and execution of PCU IOWA's mission to man, train, and equip a new construction submarine from initial manning to delivery.
2017

Navigator, PCU OREGON (SSN-793)

Responsible for establishing the initial manning planning processes and programs for PCU OREGON's warfighting mission.
