Biography

Col. Rob Flannery, U.S. Marine Corps, is the Center for Naval Warfare Studies Deputy Dean and a career Aviation Supply Officer. He has extensive aviation sustainment and joint operations experience. He has multiple assignments in the Pacific, serving in III Marine Expeditionary Force and Headquarters, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM). His joint assignments include the Joint Staff J-7 Joint Exercise Division and the Future Operations Director (J35) at USINDOPACOM. He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the U.S. Naval Academy, a master's in financial management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and master's in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College.

Led the USINDOPACOM Future Operations Division (J35) including contingency, crisis, competition, and conflict planning and operations, as well as the functional areas of the Joint Fires Element, Deployment Management, Personnel Recovery, and Counter Threat Finance.

Supported aviation sustainment plans and policy for Deputy Commandant, Aviation (DCA) at Headquarters, USMC.

Deploying HQ's and AFRICOM Desk Officer, Joint Staff J-7

Supported Joint Task Force (JTF) training for deploying HQ's standing up as a JTF, Globally Integrated Exercises (GIE), and major command exercises for U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Commanding Officer of Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS) 24 in Kaneohe, HI. MALS-24 is an integrated Navy and Marine Corps squadron that supports both Navy and Marine Corps aircraft at MCAS Kaneohe Bay.
