College of Leadership & Ethics

This event is for U.S. Naval War College students, faculty and staff.

In 2011, former Coast Guard officer and then Maritime Administration Chief Counsel K. Denise Rucker Krepp requested an Inspector General (IG) investigation into sexual assaults occurring at the US Merchant Marine Academy, one of the five federal service academies. She was forced to resign, the IG never completed the 2011 investigation, and sexual assaults continued at the school. Krepp will talk about moral courage and institutional culture. She’ll also share lessons learned on how to stop sexual assault and harassment in the military, academia, and state government.
