The Role of Operational Energy in National Security

This LOO brings an exciting opportunity to engage with one of the foremost scholars in energy politics and international relations, Professor Brenda Shaffer of the Naval Postgraduate School. With a career spanning multiple books, including Energy Politics and several other titles which are focused on challenges with Iran and their use of energy as a lever in foreign policy. Professor Shaffer has made significant contributions to understanding the intricate relationship between energy resources, geopolitics, and security. This conversation will center on her latest coauthored work, Operational Energy (De Gruyter, 2024), used in NPS’ Energy Academic Group, offering fresh insights into the nexus of energy and military strategy.
