China: Trends in Naval Officer Professional Military Education in the Post-Reform Era

Since 2016, the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has enactedreforms designed to produce a more professional, capable fighting force. Ms. O'Brien will discuss major trends in PLAN officer education, with a focus onrecent PLAN strides to increase the quality and quantity of submariners andaviators and to produce officers who are familiar with the requirements ofmodern warfare.
