The DOD was once the world leader in developing new technologies. But today, other countries' R&D capabilities are catching up and venture capitalists' resources dwarf the DOD’s own R&D spending. In order to keep pace, the DOD is changing how it leverages academia and early stage ventures to build a new pipeline of national security ideas. This presentation will examine some of the new ways that the DOD is engaging these communities and how they are transforming the broader national security enterprise.
