The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is one of the leading global humanitarian organizations, with a mandate for humanitarian action in conflicts and other situations of violence which is established by States and enshrined in the Geneva Conventions. This talk will introduce the students to what the ICRC is, what it does, how it does it and the challenges faced by the institution in the framework of modern conflict, using current experiences in Nagorno-Karabakh, Ukraine, and Yemen.
