About this lecture series

Lectures of Opportunity (LOOs) offer Naval War College (NWC) students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to learn more about national and international socio-political subjects that may be of relevance to the NWC community.

Synopsis

The "Compile to Combat - 24 Hours” (C2C24) concept is an attempt to shorten the time it takes to get ships afloat – cutting the time to deploy new software capabilities to less than 24 hours, not the common 18-month timeframe. Currently, multiple on-ship servers need to be installed, a process that can be quickened by fielding micro services code (like that used in smart phones) hosted on a shared infrastructure. A successful pilot was completed on USS Essex (LHD-2) in mid-April and the Stockdale (DDG 106) in May of 2018.
