India’s Emerging National Security Challenges
India faces strategic challenges of growing complexity, in an arc spanning from west to east including Afghanistan, Pakistan and China, and then sweeping south to involve maritime security issues. New Delhi is also still attempting to manage the continuing negative political and security effects of Prime Minister Modi's decision in August 2019 to remove the autonomous status of Indian-administered Kashmir. Simultaneously, India confronts a variety of unresolved defense management and budgetary issues, while Modi also seeks to make a distinctive mark in India's power projection in his second term. Sushant Singh will analyze these contemporary issues, how they are being perceived and discussed within the Modi administration, and their effects on regional security.
