About this lecture series

Lectures of Opportunity offer U.S. Naval War College (NWC) students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to learn more about national and international socio-political subjects that may be of relevance to the NWC community.

Synopsis

Foreign Area Officers (FAOs) are the U.S. Navy's maritime international engagement professionals, providing a unique combination of operational experience, cultural knowledge, and language expertise to the fleet. Directly supporting the National and Maritime Strategies, FAOs are force multipliers, forging critical global relationships through persistent and credible presence in 70 countries. Cmdr. Matt Meyers, FAO Community Manager, will be giving a short talk to discuss how U.S. Navy leaders can leverage our network of FAOs assigned to major staffs and embassies around the world to gain access to our allies and partners in order to better accomplish the mission. Cmdr. Meyers will also discuss opportunities to join the community, and will offer a Q&A session and stay behind for any one on one discussions as desired.
